Chehaw Park Travel

If you live in Georgia or are traveling in Georgia and you’re near The Albany area, don’t rule out a trip to Chehaw Park. It may not be as big as other zoo’s but there’s still plenty to do to keep the family busy for a day at their 800-acre campus. There are events throughout the year and they even offer a sleep away camp now for kids so they get to experience a once in a lifetime experience with nature. They’re even allowed to help wake the animals, after they themselves wake up, behind the scenes, which is pretty interesting in itself. There’s something about kids and animals that go together. I know my brood would rather spend the day watching them than doing or going just about anywhere. They have a huge picnic and play area which the kids love just as much as they do seeing the animals. Pack a picnic or play to cook on the spot. There’s plenty of areas to grill out, and they do provide the on sight grills and the areas are large enough to host parties and such. There’s a BMX racing track for the older kids, a wiregrass express tour ride, disc golf for you sporty folks, mountain bike trails for everyone, and plenty of room for camping. And all of this is in addition to the zoo area and the playground area which are both separate. The animal presentations are amazing to see and are so educational. We have so much fun at Chehaw that we go at least once every season.
